Services

Fillings and crowns

A repair for a tooth that has a cavity or a crack, so it can keep doing its job until it falls out or for life.

The dentist shows you the tooth, explains the options and what happens if you wait, and you decide together.

  • One to two visits

  • Numbing explained first

  • A written estimate before work

What happens

Step by step

  1. 01

    Step 1: A look and a plan

The dentist shows you the tooth, explains the options and writes an estimate before any work starts.

  2. 02

Step 2: Numbing, if the tooth needs it

The dentist tells your child what they will feel, such as pressure, and asks your child to raise a hand for a break.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The repair

A filling is usually one visit. A crown can take one or two. The dentist gives you a range for your child's tooth.

Good to know

Comfort, waiting, after-care and cost

  • Comfort

Numbing is used when a tooth needs it, and the dentist explains it first. Your child can ask for a break.

  • If you wait

A small cavity can grow, and a tooth that hurts or swells can need more care. The dentist tells you what is likely for your child.

  • Risks and after-care

The cheek and lip can stay numb for a couple of hours, and a child can bite them. We tell you what to watch for and how to eat until it wears off.

  • How it is billed

We file claims for plans we are in network with and give a written estimate in advance to families paying without insurance.

    How fees work

Questions about fillings and crowns

Will it hurt?

We tell your child what each tool does before it touches a tooth, and we use numbing when a tooth needs it. A child can raise a hand to ask for a break. Some things can feel strange or sore afterward; the dentist explains what to expect.

Do you take our insurance?

We are in network with some PPO dental plans and out of network with others. Give us your plan's name and we will tell you which before the visit. How fees work lists the details.

What if we don't have insurance?

You pay at the visit. We give you a written estimate in advance, before any treatment, that lists each step and its fee. You can take it home and decide.
